Open Resources Campus of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia - ORCA.nrw
The Open Resources Campus of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, ORCA.nrw, is a cross-university online state portal for studies and teaching. The state portal provides openly licensed and quality-assured educational materials and services for teachers and students. In addition to subject-specific materials, basic information on the topic of e-learning is also provided and an opportunity for discussion is offered to teachers. The educational materials on ORCA.nrw are Open Educational Resources, short OER, which means that anyone interested can use them for their own teaching and learning, edit them, and also republish them.
The portal creates a "culture of sharing" within the 37 educational institutions and serves as a further education opportunity for teachers and students. The ExAcT department of the Center for Teaching and Learning Services, the CLS, coordinates the network between ORCA.nrw and RWTH Aachen University as the contact point for university didactics.

Looking Back: OER Engineering Symposium on September 1, 2022
The network of the state portal ORCA.nrw held the first OER Engineering Symposium on September 1, 2022. The goal of the symposium was to distribute Open Educational Resources, short OER, in the respective German-speaking engineering communities.
The OER Engineering Symposium was held as a series of events on subject-specific theme days. These were organized by the network of the state portal ORCA.nrw to promote the distribution of created OER in the respective German-speaking subject communities.
The program included contributions on the creation and use of freely available teaching and learning materials as well as interactive discussion rounds for teachers and interested parties with different focal points, for example best practice examples on the creation of materials, challenges, and approaches to solutions.
You can find the program in the downloads section on this page. The materials and recordings will be made available on the state portal homepage soon.
The symposium was organized by the five ORCA network offices of the FH Dortmund, TU Dortmund, Ruhr University Bochum, University of Siegen, and RWTH Aachen.
If you have any questions about past and future symposia, please feel free to contact us at fachtag@cls.rwth-aachen.de.
