Cooperative offerings from the FH and RWTH Aachen for study orientation
Dear prospective student,
The cooperative study programs start in the summer semester and offer the following options:
Electrical Engineering with Orientation Semester (ETOS):
- Are you interested in electrical engineering and information technology? Do you want to orientate yourself between the FH and the RWTH? Then we would like to refer you to the 7-semester cooperative study program "Electrical Engineering with Orientation Semester – ETOS".
- The first semester is a joint orientation semester at the FH Aachen and the RWTH Aachen and offers an extended studies entry phase before your studies are continued at one of the two universities in the second semester.
- You can find more information here, on the website of the FH Aachen, and also on the website of the RWTH Aachen.
Civil Engineering with Orientation Semester (BIOS):
- Are you interested in civil engineering or wood engineering? Do you want to orientate yourself between the FH and the RWTH? Then we would like to draw your attention to the 8-semester cooperative study program "Civil Engineering with Orientation Semester – BIOS“!
- The first semester is a joint orientation semester at the FH Aachen and the RWTH Aachen and offers an extended studies entry phase before your studies are continued at one of the two universities in the second semester.

The Good Start of Studies in Engineering
RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences offer an orientation semester within the framework of two cooperative study programs, which is jointly sponsored by RWTH and FH Aachen University. During the summer semester, participants can attend courses and events from their chosen subject in order to better orient themselves. The question "college or university?" should then be easier to answer.
To this end, both representative modules from the respective subjects and tailored events are offered. For example, we combine higher mathematics with the existing preliminary course in order to be fair to varying levels of knowledge. In the additional semester, which was added to the regular course of studies, the participants are accompanied by engineering students. As mentors, they act as contact persons. This gives the participants more time and more security for their individual study decisions.
The cooperative project "Good Start of Studies in Engineering - the Zeroth Semester" by the FH and RWTH Aachen University was supported by the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia – now: Ministry of Culture and Science – in the 2014 funding competition and funded from 2014 to 2018.
